What you should know about the future – expect the unexpected.
When things are good in your life, we expect things to remain and be good, right?
We aren’t interested in protecting ourselves for the unexpected. We’re not even motivated to invest in our future to prepare for those unexpected events or situations.
But what happens when you get sideswiped by the unexpected? You know, Life throws unexpected things at us all the time. Why wait for the worst to happen. While we do not know what may happen, you can be prepared and adapt to the change when it comes.
Become a Lifetime Learner and invest in your future or yourself today!
I’m sure you’ve seen this problem lately, whether its a close friend or maybe even yourself: someone at their job or business getting sideswiped by the unexpected. Suddenly their world has been turned upside down and their in dire straits, struggling, going deeper in debt, and confused on what next to do. I understand, it is in human nature when things are going good to believe things won’t change. We’re not motivated to keep investing in our future and creating Plan B. We figure we’ll deal with that challenge tomorrow.
From business people not seeing new opportunities or new markets, we hang on to old traditions and ignore new ways of thinking. Too many people don’t plan far enough ahead to do something about their life.
Don’t Wait for the Worst to Happen … Expect the Unexpected, Be Proactive
Its crazy to wait for the worst to happen, you have to kick into action and be proactive. There is no security other than the security you create for yourself.
Clearly our way of life has changed, old habits and solutions are not always working in the new economy. The bottom line is this: you must make new intelligent choices right now. Choose to be proactive and not let life happen to you.
Be driven by your own values and goals, not by outside circumstances. Develop the vision, look beyond your current situation, be ready to open new doors for your own future.
In our Club, we have this motivation quote that goes out every morning to our members:
You Are the Decider
Imagine You have a Blank Canvas on which You can Paint your Life and Business Masterpiece. Having a theme for the year, a written vision for your life, and goals are the fundamental tools—the paint and brushes—you need to create your personal work of art.
You must prepare yourself for the times of struggle, sadness, and frustration that will surely come. But there will also be celebrations, victories, and happy surprises.
Action Plan:
You can’t control everything that will happen to you, but you can control how you respond to what happens. Get started today since “Someday” is an illusion that will put a tombstone on your dreams
Take Control of Any Unexpected Things That May Happen to You
Kathy Pearlman of Cincinnati, Ohio asked: “I’m working at a company that I can see is not going to make it in this depressed economy. I’m afraid to leave because it’s the only job I’ve ever known. What should I do to get past this fear of change?”
I’m going to give you some advice you can take to heart right now. Your ultimate career mistake is failing to take action.
Make a move, get your resume to date, get some letters of recommendation, and actively start looking for a new job before you arrive at work one day and the doors are locked.
Resisting Change is Common for Everyone, including Me & You:
- Old habits – We’re creatures of habit and these habits hinder our vision for new opportunities and that’s why we resist change.
- Insecurity – Our fears and uncertainties create anxiety and stress.
In reality the anticipation of whatever negative event is going to happen is much worse than the reality of change. It is important to accept the concept that you must change to adapt to new markets, new environments, new technology, new people, and new circumstances.
Not all changes are bad … in my earlier post on incorporating new 25 daily habits, we talked about Physical habits, Nutritional habits, Good habits and Future habits you can have in your life. Life is so full these days, we have lost the ability to really nurture ourselves from all the stress of life.
New Technology and environment bring new surprises and new stress you can learn to get used to and enjoy.
Self-Mastery – Reframe Your Problems to What is the Win for You:
- Frame every so-called disaster with these words: “In five years, will this matter?”
- Forgive everyone for everything.
- What other people think of you is none of your business.
- Release Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- GOD heals everything – but you have to ask Him.
- Life Changes However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
One of your greatest sources of power can be found in your ability to be flexible. When you hold on to old ways of thinking, you’re shutting yourself off from new solutions.
Another way to embrace change is to become a lifetime learner. People must expect to learn new jobs two or three times in their life. Our past skills and knowledge can no longer support us for a lifetime. Staying ahead of the game can be the key to upward mobility and security.
The emphasis of your life should be developing your vision to see beyond your current situation. We are being influenced by our environments and the people around us. Since we are the results of the people and data we allow to influence us, we must take charge of the information that we allow in our brains and souls. As entrepreneurs we must be vigilant of who and what we allow around us since it effects how we think, feel, and act.
Let’s get together to fight the unexpected. Why struggle alone when you can be together with a group of entrepreneurs or business owners in the Club.
